Federal Interim Health Program

The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) furnishes brief and restricted healthcare coverage to certain categories of vulnerable and disadvantaged foreign nationals who do not qualify for provincial or territorial health insurance.

The primary objectives of the program within Canada are twofold: firstly, to offer limited and temporary health care benefits to resettled refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons, foreign nationals detained under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, victims of human trafficking, victims of family violence, and secondly, to extend coverage to other identified groups as determined by the Minister.

Watered Heart Counselling Services has been endorsed as an approved provider for the IFH program, delivering mental health assessments and counseling services tailored for vulnerable and disadvantaged foreign nationals. The government fully funds the counseling services, ensuring no cost to the individual or referring agency. For those interested in availing themselves of these services, please reach out to us at info@wateredheartcounselling.com.
